Network Infrastructure Manager

Under the direction of the Sr Mgr, Technology Operations, the Manager – Network Infrastructure is responsible for day to day operations, technical direction and guidance to team members to ensure required services are developed, enhanced and delivered as designed, to meet the business needs. The Manager – Network Infrastructure will manage the resources and technical aspects of Network, Voice, and Data Center facility Infrastructure, and help mature the technology roadmap.
  • Ensures day to day environment stability within the owned technology realm
  • Oversee and drive the implementation of key IT/Business infrastructure initiatives
  • Manages technical resources, planning and scheduling efforts to meet overall network commitments 
  • Provides thought leadership and technical direction to the network team
  • Develops project plans individually or in conjunction with Project Managers to support the delivery of new or enhanced network services; monitors progress against work plans; identifies and resolves issues and risks
  • Partners with a broad base of business and technical teams to ensure that networks is developed to meet business and project objectives while adhering to architectural and testing standards and established methodologies
  • Works with vendors, outsourcing companies and contractors to secure network-specific products and services
  • Establishes and maintains regular communication with IT senior leadership, stakeholders and end-users regarding pertinent network activities
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure network capacity meets existing and future requirements
  • Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all network procurement and development efforts
  • Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all networks 
  • Conduct feasibility studies for various network facilities upgrade projects, improvements, and other conversions
  • 10+ years of progressive experience within IT network operations and support.
  • Demonstrated network architecture experience
  • Demonstrated team management experience
  • Technical certification(s) (i.e. CCIE, CCNA, CCDA, CCNA Sec, ACE etc.) would be a definite asset
  • Relevant industry-related certifications such as ITIL or PMP are considered an asset
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Basic Project Management and/or IT operations management 
  • Experience with reporting tools and industry standards 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and work under pressure to meet critical, time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to mentor and coach staff, and act as a resource
  • Excellent documentation skills including complex Visio diagrams
  • Able to take ownership, analyze business impact and ensure seamless implementations 
  • Able to work independently with very little supervision 
  • Thorough understanding of ITIL and the Change Management Processes 
  • Project Budgeting and Estimating
  • Risk and Problem Management
  • Chairs technical meetings and build presentations regarding new directions for technologies
Technical Experience:
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Firewall technologies, methodologies and troubleshooting, Palo Alto Firewall Networks experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with CISCO technologies
  • Familiarity in network design (Servers, Firewalls, Protocols, Topologies), TCP/IP protocol suite, ARP, routing, VRF, switching, spanning-tree, network security, QoS, DHCP, DNS
  • Knowledge of routing protocols: BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IGRP, RIP.
  • Proficiency in managing performance and upgrading network systems utilizing a variety of tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies (F5 - LTM, GTM, APM)
  • Experience with Cisco VOIP Telephony systems and understanding of IP Telephony protocols
