Network Engineer

On behalf of our enterprise client, Affinity is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team in a permanent capacity. The focus of this role is to be an integral part of the Networking team, and assist on a range of exciting and innovative projects supporting the client’s ongoing corporate IT programs.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Firewalls and Proxy management, including day to day updates, management and creating changes
  • Work with System and Security teams to implement network infrastructure
  • Document procedures, processes and operational tasks; and present where required
  • Work with current and available technology to increase service levels, reduce downtime and effectively manage costs
  • Provide timely support, analysis and resolution for network team related problems
  • Ensure timely delivery of technology solutions, which meet the quality, performance, service, and functional requirements
  • Contribute to the design, configuration and maintenance of networking, and security firewalls, and the operating systems running on these platforms
  • Operations and maintenance, including pro-active support, of hardware, software, network and communications systems
  • Security of network and data resources
  • Provide critical support, as required
 
Qualifications and experience:
  • Previous experience as a Network Engineer, preferably from a large multifaceted organisation, having worked across multiple departments
  • Firewall Networks experience and Proxy management, with experience with Firewall technologies, methodologies and troubleshooting
  • Experience in large-scale network environments
  • Technical certification(s) (i.e. CCIE, CCNA, CCDA, CCNA Sec, ACE etc.) is an asset
  • Experience with technology in a network / security environment
  • Knowledge and experience with CISCO technologies
  • Familiarity in network design and routing protocols
  • Experience in working in a project management environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to prioritise and multitask
 
Advantageous experience and qualifications:
  • Experience working with Palo Alto
  • Hands on experience scripting skills to automate, and cloud experience
  • Working experience in security and data centre move projects
  • Working experience in financial industries and environments
