Head of Technology (Sr. IT Director Level)

On behalf of our client, Affinity is looking for a Head of IT ( Sr.Director Level) to lead the Technology Strategy and mentor a team of  IT professionals. In this role you would be responsible for leading the Technology strategy while coaching within  an Agile environment and developing strategic IT road maps with the CEO. 

Experience required:
  • At least eight years of experience leading teams of skilled IT professionals while developing deep working relationships with non-technical peers and executive management
  • Project Management experience, specifically within coaching and practicing Agile Methodologies
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance best practices, processes and tools, security, data privacy
  • Excellent process improvement experience, including the utilization of continuous improvement tools/technologies
  • Strong technical operations leadership experience directly managing enterprise operations
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and implementing IT process frameworks, management, and analytics
  • Extensive experience with enterprise systems, applications, and especially web technologies
  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure technologies including cloud-based solutions, website deployment and infrastructure management (n-tier application delivery, load balancing, etc.), publishing CMS systems and platforms (e.g. Drupal or WordPress), firewalls, networking, telephony, hardware, software, servers, desktop, and mobile devices
  • Experience leading and coaching a team
  • Open minded, progressive, collaborative

Other Skills:

  • ITIL certification, PMP certification, Agile Certification
  • .Net / C# programming experience
  • Server administration experience
  • Knowledge of VMWare, Microsoft and other software tools and licensing
  • SQL, AWS, Cloud, >net, ASP, Oracle, Word Press
  • Must have Agile and leadership experience

 Overall Responsibilities:
  • Support and accelerate the business product road map by ensuring web development activities proceed efficiently and effectively according to web development best practices;
  • Ensure the smooth ongoing operation and improve the functionality of the organization's website
  • Oversee appropriate methods for objectively measuring performance and progress towards Technology departments development and infrastructure goals
  • Align technology with organizational strategies, goals and objectives
  • Review and evaluate new technology and trends in Infrastructure and Network management and website development
  • Overall leadership of technical operations, including desktops, infrastructure, systems, servers, applications, networks, database(s), telecoms, cloud services, information security, and all other aspects of technical operations
  • Infrastructure and Information Security, including intrusion prevention and detection, virus/malware protection and general digital security
  • Implement strategic planning, tactical operation planning, and the development of contingency operation plans for all system environments
  • Prepare disaster recovery and backup plans to restore all operations in the required manner and time-frames in the event of failure
  • Establish business continuity plans and documentation
  • Research and advance methods for accelerating the pace of development
  • Collaborate with the Product Management team to ensure their development and enhancement priorities for the product are being met by following the product road map
  • Develop and execute a technology strategy that maximizes workforce and developer productivity and organizational effectiveness in pursuit of the Press mission
  • Lead strategic technology planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development and infrastructure initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of new technologies and technology upgrades
  • Ensure the organizations websites are understood and reviewed annually and that systems have been established to mitigate or minimize these risks
  • Manage the overall Technology budget, including the planning and execution of resource development and training programs
  • Establish contracts with major vendors of technology assets and services
  • Negotiate deals/discounts with vendors for the purchase of technology
  • Develop talent such that the team achieves their full potential
  • Prioritize work effectively and coaching to optimize overall team results
