About the Opportunity
  • Own the tech stack of their E-commerce platform, continuously improving system environments with scalable and secure solutions.
  • Own the production deployment task. Build continuous integration and delivery pipeline. Perform server audit and maintain server health with automated monitoring.
  • Work closely with developers. Learn the development process and help the team to improve productivity by building tools and processes.
  • Provide support to development team on troubleshooting and resolving system issues on our e-commerce platform with the ability to explore log files and source code as required.
  • Lead automating operations. Improve the productivity of operation tasks and look for opportunities to automate as much as possible to reduce operation risk and cost.
  • Reproduce any production incidents in a testing environment, evaluate available solution and approaches, complete development of the chosen solution, and follow up with end users.
  • Develop site monitoring, deployment strategies and testing to support our goal of 100% uptime and quick turnaround of deployments.
  • Be on-call afterhours to address emergency issues on production environment.
  • Manage, organize and present application statistics, establishing key metrics and KPIs and developing and delivering both regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to help drive decision-making.
  • Establish and periodically update the Release Policy, which governs the release process and details release categories, release activities, role & responsibilities, exception, etc.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong technical skills in Scripting, Bash scripting, and experience with Java and Java Script on eCommerce platforms
  • 2+ years DevOps experience, ideally coming from a development background
  • Note there is no DevOps team. This role sits alone in back end team (3 BE devs)
  •  Some experience in Web Analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment.io, and other web analytics platforms
  • Experience with continuous integration, log collection and analysis.  Smartness with an intellectual curiosity that drives motivation to keep on top of technical trends
  • Comfortable writing scripts such as JavaScript, ruby, bash, groovy, and/or python. (minimum 2)
  • Extremely reliable and accountable in times of need
  • Demonstrable experience with Java web applications running on Tomcat platform, CMS system, MS SQL Server, etc.
  • Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience with Jenkins or Hudson. Docker experience is an asset
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager is an asset
  • Ability to understand and apply basic metrics gathering techniques
  • Ideal candidate will have practical experience in Release Management and DevOps, and be a recognized leader in enhancing process, using metrics and applying technology to improve efficiency and quality
