Web Support Engineer

On behalf of our client, Affinity Staffing is seeking a Web Support Engineer to join the organization on a full time permanent basis. 

What You Will Be Responsible For:
  • Manage, prioritize and take ownership of support tickets regarding issues or other requests for assistance with website-related systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve functional issues on the website with the ability to explore log files and source code as required
  • Take ownership of stage and production release, make sure each release runs successfully without any errors
  • Provide after-hours support to production environment when critical issue happens
  • Reproduce any incidents in a testing environment, evaluate available solution approaches, complete development of the chosen solution, and follow up with end users
  • Understand the downstream impact of any ongoing issue and manage communication to the appropriate teams. Update systems and initiate workflows to compensate for functional outages
  • Coordinate with the Web Development Manager to review incident analyses and determine schedules for deployment and required fixes
  • Accurately estimate resource requirements for issue resolution, and escalate issues as necessary
  • Maintain a current understanding of the overall system functionality to facilitate better troubleshooting, analysis, and communication to end users
  • Propose strategies to improve stability, reliability, performance and availability of all systems
  • Apply best practices and continuous improvement to enhance productivity, transparency, and application quality
  • Write and update documentation of requirements, design, and source code as necessary
  • Coordinate or deliver end-user training when systems are not being used as expected, or where change management is warranted (process or system changes)
 
What You Need To Do Your Job:
  • Prior experience in application production support or technical support
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with web-based applications using J2EE/Java/AJAX/Velocity/HTML/XML/Web Services
  • Proficient with SQL-based data analysis for troubleshooting
  • Working experience with Apache Tomcat
  • Experience with Git or Subversion
  • Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux environment
  • Experience with Agile environment
  • Ability to work in team environment as well as individually
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, and quick learner with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible attitude - the ability and willingness to perform under pressure
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience with e-Commerce is an asset
  • Experience with ElasticPath framework and Adobe Experience Manager is an asset
