Network Engineer

On behalf of our client, Affinity is searching for a Senior Network Engineer to provide design and implementation services for new data networks and upgrades to existing networks. The Senior Network Engineer will be joining the infrastructure implementation and migration team and will be responsible for the design, preparation, staging, implementation, and upgrading various aspects of the of data networks. 

Key Skills: Cisco 3650 switch installation and configuration; UPS installation
 
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site assessments of data networking, cabling, powering and related facilities infrastructure where required
  • Preparation of documentation related to the design, assessment, preparation, implementation, and operational support transition phases of the project
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of network switching, routing and access control hardware, as required
  • Preparation of documentation related to the assessment, preparation, implementation, and
  • operational support transition phases of the project
  • Provide network implementation / production cutover services outside of normal business hours, as required
  • Provide technical direction / assistance to Network Specialists
  • Develop an understanding of the current network standards related to the wireless / network equipment installation / configuration / operations
 
Education/Experience:
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a program, such as communications technology, plus related vendor network certifications, and at least eight (8) years of recent data network design, planning, site assessment, and implementation experience.  In addition, the successful candidate will have the following experience:
  • In-depth knowledge / experience with current network standards and industry best practices required to implement a reliable data network
  • Extensive experience with enterprise-grade Cisco network hardware
  • Experience in designing and implementing voice grade networks
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and results-oriented
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office
