Affinity’s enterprise client has a contract opening for a Mobile Application Developer (Android). Reporting to the Supervisor of Mobile Development, the successful candidate will contribute a broad variety of mobile application development activities including defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining mobile applications in support of business requirements; focusing on support and enhancements for existing and new mobile applications in the roadmap. The incumbent will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the development life cycle.
The successful candidate will join the Digital Product Group, a team comprised of 45+ multidisciplinary members. The candidate will work alongside other mobile developers, backend developers, UX front-end developers, DevOps analysts, system analysts, QA analysts, product managers and digital marketers.
• Build software solutions to industry best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, architects and developers.
• Analyze and assess existing mobile applications and procedures as they pertain to application solutions.
• Consistently write, translate, and code unit and automation tests to test, maintain, and monitor solutions.
• Provide internal training on mobile application development.
• Participate in Agile working practices such as daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, meetings, reviews and retrospectives.
Position Requirements
• Technical or college diploma, or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, software engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative, environment is essential.
• At least 3 years of mobile application development experience using the Android SDK.
• Major contributor of at least 2 mobile applications listed on Google Play Store.
• Experience using Android Studio.
• Familiar with Google Material Design Guidelines.
• Familiar with Google’s Android Design Patterns.
• Experience with integrating remote data via REST and JSON.
• Experience with GIT.
• Experience with native RxJava2, Retrofit & ORM db is a plus.
• Familiar with Test Driven Design (TDD).
• Familiar with Agile Development Methodology and the full mobile development lifecycle.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an agile environment.
• Adept at conducting research into mobile application related issues and products.
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new emerging technologies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Experience with iOS application development is a plus.
