Director of Product Management

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Director of Product Management who will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for our client's Information Technology solution roadmap and prioritization.  He or she will provide guidance and oversight to the IT product Streams with a focus on technically sound and fiscally prudent solutions.  

The Director will embody Product Ownership and be a recognized expert in the field of Product Ownership and Agile in Canada.  He or She will provide guidance and oversight to the IT product steams, while working closely with business and IT leadership.  This oversight extends to external vendor partnerships and will involve direct vendor and vendor contract management.  Ultimately, the Director will serve as the Practice Lead of the Product Owners, working diligently to support the team’s growth towards excellence and management of priorities. 


Responsibilities
• Responsible for ensuring business and IT needs are achieved through solutions that are technically sound and fiscally prudent
• Create roadmaps and prioritization of technology products across the organization, catering to business objectives that deliver value
• Partner with business stakeholders for product road-mapping, product planning, and prioritization.
• Develop, build, coach and lead the team of Product Owners to translate customer and organizational objectives and critical success factors into actionable business, organizational and technological strategies
• Provides vision and cohesion between various technology products and translates complex problems into simple concepts
• Drive team engagement and development - As the Product Owner of the Product Owner team, you define what good looks like in terms of PO practice.
• Financial budgeting responsibilities for IT foundational changes
• Focus on lean and waste efficiencies across all application planning and upgrade/replacement roadmap
• Budget and forecast management of resource
s • Develop and maintain relationships with key technology partners and vendors
• Partner with IT Procurement with requests and creation of quotes, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs and purchase orders 


Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience working with and leading large technology teams or teams of Product Owners
• 10+ years of experience working primarily as a Product Owner or Product Manager in an Agile work environment
• You have the ability to appropriately balance the needs of multiple stakeholders 
• You have the ability to interact with C Level executives and jointly form strategy and execute on that strategy, keeping those stakeholders aligned and informed
• You have the ability to drive complex initiatives across several internal organizations and teams, using influence and ensuring high levels of alignment and communication
• You understand technical debt and it’s impact on product development
• You have the ability to make decisions based on qualitative and quantitative data
• You have the capacity to work under pressure and continue to deliver high quality solutions

• Experience leading and defining an agile transformation
• Experience working in a start-up and/or eCommerce environment
