Senior DevOps Engineer

On behalf of our client, Affinity is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer on a 6 month full-time basis. You will play a core role in assisting the Team Leads and Product Managers in automating our client's Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environment.   You will take ownership of tasks assigned to you and ensure they are completed to a high standard of quality and within scheduled deadlines.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the cultural shift in application deployment automation, including promoting and releasing builds and/or patches and other software from development, through testing, to production, while continuously improving the CI/CD process.
  • Be the advocate and champion for all CI/CD automation processes that go into Dev, QA, UAT, sandbox and production environments
  • Analyze business specifications and other project technical documentation to ensure you have a full understanding of the requirements to properly implement and maintain a well designed automated CI/CD system.
  • Communicate with Operations, Development and Product Management to secure production environments and adequately carry out proper monitoring and testing activities to ensure it is secure and functioning well. 
  • Work with Team Leads to plan, scope, prioritize and schedule deployment automation projects 
  • Participate in project meetings and provide realistic estimates. 
  • Create, maintain and take ownership of automation scripts and/or play books for new and existing systems 
  • Suggest and implement improvements to the current automated CI/CD framework 
  • Collaborate with Development and QA to keep our production environment performant, robust, and maintainable 
  • Mentor team members as they learn about automated deployment and CI/CD delivery
  • Participate in level 2 or level 3 support tickets
 
​Qualifications 
  • 5+ years of deep deployment automation experience securing production environments on AWS 
  • Strong experience automatically deploying Docker containers to host application services and implementing/configuring the necessary automation to spin up, tear down for the purpose of testing and/or scaling
  • Strong experience with a software provisioning, configuration management and application deployment tools such as Anisble, Chef or Puppet
  • Experience creating an automated deployment framework that ensure builds pass security tests and QA regression / automation
  • Strong experience configuring and integrating GIT and Jenkins into the automated deployment framework
  • Working knowledge of logging and monitoring tools such as Graylog and AppDynamic
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux system administration (including writing shell or bash scripts to facilitate automation)
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies and software development life cycles
  • Experience in defining, designing, communicating, and presenting quality metrics to cross-functional teams as well as upper management
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • At least 3 years experience working in a team environment
